Taiwan must forgo its current democracy to trade for independence

If I may say some words about Taiwan Independence. Though there are more and more people in Taiwan who identify themselves as Taiwanese, rather than Chinese, yet, in my view, Taiwan can never become an independent country in the foreseeable future.

Why I am so assertive with above argument that Taiwanese can never succeed in becoming an independent country is because of Taiwan's obsession with its self-proud "freedom and democracy." Under those, it is very difficult to produce unified and embodied action on such a significant and essential issue. Additionally, Taiwan also features with its diversified values and so-called "people first," they further add to the difficulties of implementing Taiwan Independence campaign either at home or in the international community.

A highly democratic Taiwan, enjoying stable and prosperous economy particularly, can never pursue its dream of becoming an independent country. The only way to fulfill its dream, which seems to have been forming a consensus according to the recent survey published, is to forgo its current democracy and give the government more centralized power to realize the dream carried by most Taiwanese -- a genuinely independent Taiwan.

However, Taiwanese, are you prepared to trade your democracy for that?
