Generally, I have failed in growing chestnut pumpkin for two times. Last spring, it was the powdery mildew that failed my growing pumpkin. While, this winter, though I cracked down the downy mildew successfully, I still lost three pumpkins after the unusual successive rain in winter. Besides, the other mistake I made was that I shouldn't have foiled the banks with heavy fallen leaves, which I collected from the campus of CMA. Since the pumpkin roots are susceptible to wetness, the unusual rain plus the cold snap stripped all their leaves eventually, and killed the plants except for two small pumpkin fruits. I picked them from their wilted stems with regret.
