Corporal Hon definitely was not murdered
Basically, I don't think the corporal Hon was murdered. But, there seems to be a multitude of people in this society are so eager to unveil that he was virtually murdered by the military, and his chain of command, including President Ma, the commander in chief of the armed forces, was all involved in this cold-blood abuse and murder.
Above expectation, which looms in many people's minds in Taiwan, is really worth our investigating, and it serves as a good research subject for the pan-politicized aura in Taiwan. There seems to be more and more people, particularly in the public service community, believe the event has already been manipulated by the pan-green again tarnishing President Ma and his administration in order to gain the edge in the next presidential campaign.
If it is true that many people in Taiwan wish to believe the military is corrupt and power-abusing and corporal Hon was murdered by his superiors due to his high academic degree as well as his outspokenness when he served his compulsory military service in 542 Combined Arms Brigade, we should take a further look at Taiwan's military and its impression that has been long formed on the general public.
Evidently, there are a large number of people in Taiwan, especially for those in middle ages, who hold discord or even grudge against the military. These people, when they served their military service in their twenties, saw the dark sides of the military such as bureaucracy, falsification, low availability and serviceability of weapons, abuse of ranks and authority, and the like. When they discharged from the draft military, most of them bear dissent against the military, even though their military service did bring them unique experiences which they would like to talk about throughout their lives, especially when chatting with women. Event like Hon's one would easily remind them of the dark sides of the military, and have them reach a quick conclusion -- the military must have fixed, abused and killed, maybe accidentally, the draftee corporal.
With the poor impression people in Taiwan have with the military, I believe Taiwan's military would not be able to operate effectively and efficiently, let alone to win the war for the nation -- because they have lost rapport and support of the public, which is critical to winning war they may face in the future.
